Food has been an integral part of my life, and I don’t mean so just because of my dependence on its for existence. I love food for how it makes me and other people around me feel. When I cook for others, like making tiramisu or vegetarian noodle soup for my friends, it makes my day to see their faces light up and enjoy every bite (or so they said – I have always been skeptical of how much they actually enjoy my food haha). The hours of carrying groceries, chopping, prepping, stirring, and waiting just feel so worth it after seeing my friends finish their food (and still being friend with me afterwards).
I am also happy to have food prepared by others, free-of-charge or not. Of course, as a cheapskate, I always appreciate getting free food. “Anyone who is willing to give me food should be a good person”, as I always tell my friends. When it’s not free, I get a little bit critical and demanding on the flavours and the good-value-for-money thing. Stumbling on cheap delicious bites always gives me such joy. Even when it let me down (which is most of the times when I eat out), the displeasure is still an experience that I appreciate. Trying new food stimulates my taste buds, expands my flavour “profile” (can’t think of a better way to express this) and makes me appreciate better food.
My roommate Priyaa keeps on nagging me to make a blog after our unfruitful food-related project. To Priyaa: here you go woman, I hope you enjoy it.
To anyone who is reading this, thank you. I hope you find something interesting in the food that I post and you will be inspired to try some out/explore new dishes, because food is probably one of the most relatable and affordable hobbies to have 🙂
